Slingshot Readers,

We NEED your support. More specifically, the author of this article needs your support. If you've been enjoying our content, you know that a lot of work goes into our stories and although it may be a work of passion, writers gotta eat. If just half our readers gave 1 DOLLAR a month, one measly dollar, we could fund all the work from StuChiu, DeKay, Emily, Andrew (and even Vince). If you contribute 5 DOLLARS a month, we invite you to join our Discord and hang with the team. We wouldn't bother you like this if we didn't need your help and you can feel good knowing that 100% of your donation goes to the writers. We'd really appreciate your support. Reddit CEO admits to editing user comments without their knowledge

Steve Huffman, CEO of Reddit, admitted Wednesday to editing users’ comments because of criticism he received.

This came after Reddit banned the subreddit r/pizzagate, which was dedicated to a conspiracy theory linking Hillary Clinton to a child abuse ring.

Users of the r/the_donald, the subreddit dedicated to President Elect Donald Trump, heavily criticized Huffman, whose username is “spez” on Reddit. He then responded to a post by admitting to changing comments directed at him to moderators of the subreddit instead.

“Yep. I messed with the “fuck u/spez” comments, replacing “spez” with r/the_donald mods for about an hour,” he wrote. “It’s been a long week here trying to unwind the r/pizzagate stuff. As much as we try to maintain a good relationship with you all, it does get old getting called a pedophile constantly. As the CEO, I shouldn’t play such games, and it’s all fixed now. Our community team is pretty pissed at me, so I most assuredly won’t do this again.”

Huffman has come under widespread criticism for the move which is seen as a significant breach of trust in altering the free speech on the online forum.
