Slingshot Readers,

We NEED your support. More specifically, the author of this article needs your support. If you've been enjoying our content, you know that a lot of work goes into our stories and although it may be a work of passion, writers gotta eat. If just half our readers gave 1 DOLLAR a month, one measly dollar, we could fund all the work from StuChiu, DeKay, Emily, Andrew (and even Vince). If you contribute 5 DOLLARS a month, we invite you to join our Discord and hang with the team. We wouldn't bother you like this if we didn't need your help and you can feel good knowing that 100% of your donation goes to the writers. We'd really appreciate your support. After all, you're what makes all this happen. Learn more

Who is Faker?

Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok is the mid laner of Korean League of Legends team SK Telecom T1 and is a three-time world champion.

Commonly referred to as the best League of Legends player in the world, and the best professional player in the history of the game, Faker has been the center of global attention since 2013 and is still the most popular player in the world. He is also the living example of how professional League of Legend players aspire to be, as Faker’s mechanical ability has not suffered significantly since his debut and continues to be relevant in a game over the course of four seasons.

He has been with his team, SKT, since his debut and has stayed there even though a number of his former teammates have left for other teams, either in South Korea or foreign regions. The question of Faker’s salary has been a hot topic as of late as his team did say that he was being paid handsomely, while it is speculated that his salary has exceeded $2 million. He has won the League of Legends World Championship with SKT in 2013, 2015 and 2016 and is one of only two players to accomplish that feat.

In June 2015, Faker was featured in ESPN The Magazine.
