The QXC get good story

Chiu on This
A short and regular opinion blast from Stephen Chiu

‘Chiu on This’ is a short and regular opinion blast

This is one of those stories that I always found amusing but could never find a good place for. It starts in 2011 before any of the big leagues start hosting tournaments. It was during the Team Liquid Starleague (incidentally one of the better formats for a tournament you’ll likely see when it comes to qualifying). One round of 32 matchup was between QXC and Genius. QXC was a fairly well known Terran player back then and Genius was considered one of the best Protoss players in the world (according to hearsay). Famously, all of the pro players cheered when Genius was cheesed out of GSL Season 1 by DAVIT.

QXC had a practice partner with adelscott, a French player. The story goes that adelscott smashed QXC dozens of times over and over. QXC had no idea what to do and asked adelscott what he should change. Adelscott said all he needed to do was be good at the game. Enraged, QXC practiced more. As it turned out, it was a very good game for the time as QXC beat Genius in the round of 32. Famously, the third game ended with mass reaper deathsquads. A surprisingly effective move and never done again except by Thorzain. You can watch the game for yourself.
