‘Chiu on This’ is a short and regular opinion blast
At IEM Sydney, FaZe and Astralis will meet for a third time in the playoffs in as many tournaments. They previously played at IEM Katowice and StarLadder Kiev. At IEM Katowice, Astralis won a best-of-five. At StarLadder, FaZe won the best-of-three. Both matches were in the finals of the tournament.
Despite the records being even, this is a volatile matchup. FaZe played a much cleaner game at Katowice than at Kiev. Despite that, it was Kiev they won. The map veto is very volatile as neither team plays cobblestone, though Astralis beat FaZe on it in the group stage of this tournament. Because of that, I think Astralis will get an advantage in the map veto.
If I had to pick out a player performance to watch, it is dupreeh. He played phenomenally at Katowice but had a mediocre performance at Kiev. If FaZe hits that level of form where everyone is contributing, then Astralis has to match it. At Kiev, only three players were playing at peak form: dev1ce, kjaerbye and xyp9x. I can excuse gla1ve a bit as he’s the in-game leader and takes on the entry role to support his teammates. So it will be up to dupreeh to step it up if FaZe comes full throttle.
