‘Chiu on This’ is a short and regular opinion blast

When the Morgan Stanely report on the projections on Overwatch League came out, I thought for sure this was as ludicrous as it was going to get. I was wrong. In an article today by Richard Lewis, he revealed that the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins have bought slots into the OWL. In the article he points out a tweet that I missed from Activision Blizzard’s Bobby Kotick saying there are 75,000 players at the pro level right now.

The first set of numbers from the Morgan Stanley report are ludicrous. The second set of numbers are equally ludicrous. Think about it this way. League of Legends was reported to have 100 million monthly players by Forbes. In the entire world there might be about 200 or so players who are considered professional at this game. Where are these numbers coming from?

In a strange sort of coincidence, the original Stanley Morgan report stated that the OWL needed 72,000 active users for the regular season. So I assume 70,00 is now the number?
