Wings-Random-ACE timeline and rumors

Chiu on This
A short and regular opinion blast from Stephen Chiu

‘Chiu on This’ is a short and regular opinion blast

With the Wings-Random-ACE mess going on, I thought I’d write a timeline of what has been going on.

Wings seemed fine until February. The team’s salary from January allegedly wasn’t paid until March 15, meaning that Wings had lost two months of salary. At the same time, the Wings players reportedly felt their relationship was getting worse with the owner, so they all made the decision to leave the org to form Random. Critically, the contract was never legally ended when Wings left.

Rumors at the time suggested Wings had lost all of its money by blowing it on a League of Legends team that crashed and burned, but that was never confirmed.

The players were the all given a lifetime ban from ACE for breaking the contract. ACE, for those who do not know, is the tournament/team monopoly run in China, so the Random players will not be able to play in anything but Valve events so long as they live in China.

The breaking of the Wings contract also created a dispute between the players. Y and Faith_bian allegedly wanted to settle the contract dispute. The other three didn’t want to deal with Wings anymore. I get the feeling the remaining three players thought it was a live together/die together pact as they all understood that leaving Wings could end in a ban from ACE.
