Slingshot Readers,

We NEED your support. More specifically, the author of this article needs your support. If you've been enjoying our content, you know that a lot of work goes into our stories and although it may be a work of passion, writers gotta eat. If just half our readers gave 1 DOLLAR a month, one measly dollar, we could fund all the work from StuChiu, DeKay, Emily, Andrew (and even Vince). If you contribute 5 DOLLARS a month, we invite you to join our Discord and hang with the team. We wouldn't bother you like this if we didn't need your help and you can feel good knowing that 100% of your donation goes to the writers. We'd really appreciate your support. After all, you're what makes all this happen. Learn more

Manila Masters Day 2

A short and regular opinion blast from Stephen Chiu

Chiu on This’ is a short and regular opinion blast

Day 2 of the Manila Masters starts tonight and the matches are Newbee/EG, NP/Secret and Faceless/Clutch Gamers.

For Newbee/EG, the question will always be the same for Newbee. Will they choke? As a team, they’ve been one of the most dominant teams in almost every tournament they’ve entered up until they get to the semifinals — or when they attend a Major. This team chokes and as they haven’t changed rosters, they have to get over this issue before TI.

NP/Secret is the match between EternaLEnVy and Puppey. Once the best of friends when they joined together, they split apart in one of the most dramatic ways possible. It spawned the “Fight Me” meme. This was a match long in the making.

Faceless/Clutch is an important match if only because Clutch Gamers have been hyped up as potential Kings of SEA because they have won almost all of their online matches. As Faceless is an opponent they play often, this is as comfortable match as they can hope for and will tell us if this new team has seriously LAN anxiety.
