Slingshot Readers,

We NEED your support. More specifically, the author of this article needs your support. If you've been enjoying our content, you know that a lot of work goes into our stories and although it may be a work of passion, writers gotta eat. If just half our readers gave 1 DOLLAR a month, one measly dollar, we could fund all the work from StuChiu, DeKay, Emily, Andrew (and even Vince). If you contribute 5 DOLLARS a month, we invite you to join our Discord and hang with the team. We wouldn't bother you like this if we didn't need your help and you can feel good knowing that 100% of your donation goes to the writers. We'd really appreciate your support. Bandai Namco and Twitch announced Thursday the TEKKEN 7 World Tour.

Twitch and Bandai Namco, the developer of the TEKKEN fighting game franchise, announced Thursday the creation of the TEKKEN World Tour. The tour will be streamed exclusively on Twitch, and Twitch will manage league operations, circuit events, and content.

“The Fighting Game Community on Twitch features some of our platform’s most vibrant players and fans, with the TEKKEN World Tour created to celebrate their enthusiasm,” Twitch program manager Richard Thiher said in a statement. “We’ve also witnessed how the Fighting Game genre has grown from local tournaments in arcades and living rooms to global attractions filling convention centers and stadiums. TEKKEN has been a major franchise and influence during this evolution. Our partnership with Bandai Namco Entertainment America for this new tournament series will help keep Fighting Games at the forefront of esports, while building toward a sustainable ecosystem for all of the players, fans, and organizers involved.”

TEKKEN 7 will be released on console June 2. The tour starts June 16-18 at the CEO Fighting Game Championships and will be held in other locations, including Orlando, Dallas and other yet to be announced cities. The season is set to last through November and contains a $200,000 prize pool.

“Our collective goal with the TEKKEN World Tour is to create an unparalleled competitive tournament experience and share the bone-crushing excitement of TEKKEN 7 through Twitch’s social video platform so that TEKKEN fans around the world can enjoy and participate in the action,” said Eric Hartness, Vice President of Marketing at Bandai Namco.
