If you've been enjoying our content, you know that a lot of work goes into our stories and although it may be a work of passion, writers gotta eat. If just half our readers gave 1 DOLLAR a month, one measly dollar, we could fund all the work from StuChiu, DeKay, Emily, Andrew (and even Vince). If you contribute 5 DOLLARS a month, we invite you to join our Discord and hang with the team. We wouldn't bother you like this if we didn't need your help and you can feel good knowing that 100% of your donation goes to the writers. We'd really appreciate your support. Overwatch free weekend taking place through Monday

Overwatch free weekend runs through Monday for PC, Playstation 4 and XBox One users.
Overwatch free weekend runs through Monday for PC, Playstation 4 and XBox One users, as part of Blizzard's ongoing Overwatch Anniversary celebration.

To celebrate the one-year anniversary of the popular game, Blizzard announced an Overwatch free weekend that will take place through Memorial Day weekend.

Starting at 2 p.m. today, Overwatch became free for the weekend to users on PC, Playstation 4 and XBox One. The deal ends at 11:59 p.m. PT Monday (which means those of you on the East Coast can play for free until 3 a.m. Tuesday).

Playstation 4 players will require a Plus Membership to play for free, and XboX One users will need an XBox Live Gold Subscription to access the deal.

Blizzard’s Overwatch Anniversary celebration started earlier in the week and has included a handful of features to this point. Tuesday marked one year since the game’s launch, and the three week anniversary event will go until June 12. Lead designer Jeff Kaplan has said new hero news was “just on the horizon.” The anniversary also included 11 new skins that could be found in exclusive Loot Boxes.

The game also launched three new arena maps, and there was a celebratory stream earlier in the week that featured streamers and interviews spanning more than 12 hours. Tumblr also revealed the game garnered 150 million engagements on its blog service.

It’s been an exciting week, and there’s certainly more to come in the future. But for now, enjoy the free three days of playing the game.
