Overwatch Double XP Weekend will take place through Monday as the cap to the game’s one-year anniversary celebration.
Starting at 8 p.m. ET Thursday through 11:59 p.m. PT Monday night (almost 3 a.m. on the East Coast), Overwatch players on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One will receive double experience points. The double XP weekend comes at an important time, as the anniversary’s limited edition loot boxes will be soon go away, and the game rewards leveling up with a free loot box.
The double XP will be calculated to the time spent in a match, completing a match, completing consecutive matches, winning a match, backfilling a match in progress and earning medals. The double XP will not, however, stack with the “First Win of the Day” bonus, which will remain the same.
This weekend marks the final perk from the Overwatch anniversary celebration. The event started May 23, and to celebrate the occasion a massive amount of in-game items such as icons, emotes, sprays, and new legendary skins were added to anniversary loot boxes. The festivities also included a marathon stream and a free weekend.
The latest PTR patch also saw the addition of a new assault map, Horizon Lunar Colony, and the game began its fifth competitive season May 31.
