ELEAGUE, the Turner Sports/WME|IMG joint venture, announced Sunday it will host a $250,000 world championship for Injustice 2.
The inaugural ELEAGUE Injustice 2 World Championship will feature the top 16 players in the world. Select matches will be aired live in TBS, with the full slate available on digital platforms. The tournament will begin Oct. 21 with an open qualifier, according to a news release.
Injustice 2, the sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us, is a fighting game featuring DC Characters. This will be ELEAGUE’s second venture into the fighting games community after running the ELEAGUE Street Fighter V Invitational, which concluded last month.
It has been a busy month for ELEAGUE, as the Street Fighter V Invitational concluded the last weekend of May, and the Clash for Cash, a $250,000 Counter-Strike match between Astralis and Virtus.pro, will take place Friday. ELEAGUE will also run another Counter-Strike event in September.
ELEAGUE entered esports last year with two seasons of Counter-Strike and the ELEAGUE Major. It also ran an event in Overwatch before dipping its toe into the FGC with the Street Fighter event.
