Epsilon eSports announced Tuesday the signing of Owen “smooya” Butterfield, Lasse “maeVe” Elgaard and Cosmin-Mihai “cosmeeeN” Butuc to make up for the loss of Henrik “REZ” Sterner, who left to join Ninjas in Pyjamas.
Slingshot previously reported the signing of smooya, and the addition of maeVe, from Denmark, and the Romanian cosmeeeN act as a staunch shift to a multi-national team after Epsilon attempted for months to build a successful group of Swedish players.
REZ joined NiP on Monday to replace Adam “Friberg” Friberg. Epsilon previously sought a $200,000 buyout for REZ, whose departure dropped the team well below the required number of players to compete before Tuesday’s announcement. The three new players will join André “BARBARR” Möller and Fredrik “freddieb” Buö on the remaining Epsilon roster.
“I would like to thanks Nexus Gaming for all their support. Without this key element I don’t think I would have reached this level,” cosmeeeN said in a statement. “A few days ago, I was asked by Barbarr if I was willing to join Epsilon as a player. I thought It was a dream. After checking it was real, I accepted gladly. I Would like to thank Epsilon Esports and their sponsors for the opportunity. I hope to make my family, my friends and my Romanian fans proud!”
