Phoenix1 makes another jungle switch, starts MikeYeung for NA LCS Week 3

Phoenix1 started its third jungler in as many weeks after signing MikeYeung for the NA LCS.

Phoenix1 made it three junglers in as many weeks for its League of Legends team with the announcement Saturday that Michael “MikeYeung” Yeung would start in Week 3 of the North American League of Legends Championship Series (NA LCS).

After finishing third in the spring split of the NA LCS, Phoenix1 has struggled mightily to begin the summer split. After an 0-4 start through two weeks, having used both Rami “Inori” Charagh and William “Meteos” Hartman in the jungle, Phoenix1 announced MikeYeung would play for its Week 3 matches against Dignitas and Counter Logic Gaming. The results were not immediately helpful, as Phoenix1 lost 2-1 to Dignitas on Saturday to drop to 0-5, but P1 plays at 6 p.m. Sunday against CLG in hopes of earning its first win of the split.

Adding MikeYeung wasn’t even the first move of the week for Phoenix1, which announced Friday the addition of Alex “Xpecial” Chu to play Sunday against CLG. Xpecial probably would have joined for the full weekend if Phoenix1 had not played his former team, Dignitas, on Saturday.

Not much is known about MikeYeung, but rumor has it he reached Challenger by the time he was 13. This will be his first professional opportunity, and it comes at a time where if he could make an impact, it could help save a split that seems to be getting away from Phoenix1 at a rapid rate.
