Ryan “CrusaDe” van Wegen and Emil “destro” Krastev, two former members of the Cyclowns have been added to the rosters of two different teams currently competing in Overwatch Contenders. CrusaDe is listed on Laser Kittenz’ roster as a substitute, while destro is listed as the flex player on the Movistar Riders.
The Cyclowns announced Monday they would disband in the middle of Overwatch Contenders after a disappointing first week performance, which ended with two losses and one draw. But according to an official statement from the team on Sunday, it was more because of players receiving offers from other teams.
The appearance of two of its former members in other organizations in Overwatch Contenders seem to reflect that claim, as all the players and coach were free agents upon the announcement. Laser Kittenz is first in Europe’s Group B with a record of 3-0, and Movistar Riders are first in Group D with a record of 2-0-1
It is still unclear what Blizzard intends to do with the now open slot created by Cyclowns, which was also in Group D. The Overwatch Contenders group stage will continue Saturday.
