League of Legends Patch 7.14 could be smaller than usual

League of Legends patch 7.14 will likely be smaller than usual.

Andrei “Meddler” van Roon from Riot Games’ development team gave the impression that the theme of League of Legends Patch 7.14 will be rather small through his latest gameplay blog.

With no outstanding large scale changes in champions or items, Meddler said “there’s a chance 7.14 might be a bit smaller than usual” in terms of balance changes, as the focus shifts to the League of Legends World Championship and the qualifying stages for it.

Potential changes to starting items with new rune systems

Although it will not be a concern on Patch 7.14, Meddler wrote that certain stats that are offered through the current rune system that might not be completely supported in the new merging of masteries and runes. As such, the development team is testing out a number of new runes to cover those stats, and he even teased that they are testing new starting items to cover all the holes.

The example given was a potential Doran’s attack speed item, which doesn’t exist quite yet, but would allow players to have a choice in trade off in favor of attack speed over attack damage. The team is open to suggestions in that regard, and players are encouraged to leave feedback.
