PGL Krakow Major teams and first round matchups have been finalized.

After an offline qualifier, the 16 teams competing in the PGL Krakow Major have been finalized, as have the first round matchups that will take place July 16.

G2 Esports, Cloud9, mousesports, PENTA, Immortals, BIG, Flipsid3 Tactics and Vega Squadron all qualified for the Major over the weekend at the offline qualifier. They will join Astralis, Virtus.pro, Fnatic, SK Gaming, North, FaZe Clan, Gambit and Natus Vincere at the event, which runs July 16-23 in Krakow, Poland.

The tournament will be run via a best-of-one the Swiss format, meaning after the first round, teams will be split to play teams with the same record. If a team wins three matches before it loses three, it advances to the playoffs. Here are the first round matchups to be played July 16:

Astralis vs. Immortals

Virtus.pro vs. Vega Squadron

Fnatic vs. Flipsid3 Tactics

SK Gaming vs. PENTA

Gambit vs. mousesports

Natus Vincere vs. G2

FaZe Clan vs. BIG

North vs. Cloud9

Analysis: The most intriguing first round match is Natus Vincere vs. G2. Na’Vi retained its legend status at the ELEAGUE Major in January but has been on a five months struggle since that time. G2, meanwhile, has been resurgent since a post-Major shuffle and was the class of the qualifiers. Gambit and mousesports should be another exciting first round matchup, as it features two solid Tier 2 teams. Finally, defending champion Astralis drew an intriguing match against Immortals, which was one of the final seeds to qualify. But after failing to make the major on multiple occasions, the Brazilian club could play freely having surpassed the mental block of not being able to reach the Major.
