More details about Doomfist, Overwatch’s most popular unplayable character, have emerged.

In a blog post Tuesday, Blizzard revealed more details about the ever elusive Doomfist in the form of a news report from the game’s universe. Doomfist’s name is Akande Ogundimu, and he was apparently held in a maximum security prison, only to be broken out by the game’s antagonistic organization, Talon.

The previous in-game tie in with Doomfist was the destruction inside Numbani Airport, where players could see the OR15 defense robots completely destroyed. The incident, which was previously theorized to be done by Doomfist, was confirmed through the news report.

Lore-wise, the security force known as Helix has filled in the void of Overwatch after Overwatch’s disbandment. They were also involved in another incident in Egypt — which is a background story element of another character named Pharah — that gives a glimpse of the international politics of the world of Overwatch universe.

Doomfist has been hyped up through story-driven segments of the universe, even being involved in the background of a now playable character Orisa, as she was released right after the “Reclamation of Doomfist” story event. The fanbase has been clamoring to see a playable version of the character, and news such as actor Terry Crews potentially voicing Doomfist has grabbed a lot of attention.
