ASUS ROG will host an Overwatch event Aug. 3-4 in Helsinki, Finland.
ASUS announced through its website it will host the ASUS ROG Overwatch Tournament. Eight invited eight teams will compete for a $9,500 prize pool at the ASUS ROG arena in Helsinki. The tournament will be streamed with both English and Finnish commentary. Teams can apply for an invitation to the tournament, but they must cover their own costs to get there, making it unlikely teams will come from far outside Finland. Rest in Pyjamas (formerly Ninjas in Pyjamas) and ENCE have already been confirmed to attend the tournament.
The group stage will be played in double elimination best-of-threes, with a single elimination playoff stage that ends in a best-of-five final. The teams will be divided into two groups of four, and after the first round of matches, the winning teams will face each other, and losing teams will do so as well. The top two teams from each group then make it to the playoffs.
The opening matches of both groups will be streamed, as well as the losers matches and the decider matches. The prize break down is $5,000 for first place, $2,500 for second, and $1,500 for third. This will add another LAN to the summer Overwatch schedule, as the Overwatch World Cup, which begins next week, will also be taking place around that time.
