Outside of the usual changes to champions and items, Riot Games likes to make some changes to how mechanics work in the grand scheme of things on League of Legends patches. With League of Legends Patch 7.14, which will go live Wednesday, the focus seems to be on vision and making it much more valuable.
Before Patch 7.14, some abilities gave limited vision to the caster even though they weren’t specifically vision-giving abilities. Trundle’s Pillar of Ice and Anivia’s wall were two such abilities that altered the terrain of Summoner’s Rift and had the added benefit of giving a peek at who might be in an area without vision by granting a small amount around their abilities.
But that will be no more in the newest patch, which means players will no longer feel the need to check the bush with their abilities and will have to either face-check or — wait for it — actually buy a ward and put it in a bush.
On top of that, with bushes and denying vision being important, they also touched on Ivern’s ability to literally create vision-denying bushes anywhere he wants in a large area. This is a very valuable skill when it comes to vision, and Riot elected to halve its casting range to give less of a large impact in terms of vision.
