Luminosity to replace Destinyy and shz with ex-PaiN players chelo and nekiz

Luminosity Gaming will replace Destiny, shz and the team's coach, according to multiple sources.

Luminosity Gaming will replace Counter-Strike players Lucas “Destiny” Bullo and Bruno “shz” Martinelli along with the team’s coach, according to multiple sources close to the players and organization. The players will be replaced by Marcelo “chelo” Cespedes and Gabriel “nekiz” Schenato.

Destiny tweeted Thursday that he was leaving the team, but shz and coach Felippe Martins are also departing, according to multiple sources. Chelo and Nekiz are Brazilian players formerly of PaiN Gaming, and this will be a step up for them.

Destiny had been with Luminosity since July and shz had been there since September. Martins had been the team’s coach since January.

The Brazilian lineup has largely struggled this year. It finished seventh in North America in the ESL Pro League Season 5, narrowly missing out on a playoff spot. Luminosity also finished seventh-eighth at DreamHack Austin and fourth in the Americas Minor, failing to reach the offline qualifier for the PGL Krakow Major.

Nekiz, 21, left PaiN Gaming last week and played for Cyclone before that. This will be his fourth team of 2017. Chelo has been his teammate throughout the year, and the duo was part of a PaiN Gaming team that finished fifth-sixth (worse than Luminosity) at the Americas Minor. PaiN Gaming and the roster parted ways last Friday.

Luminosity declined comment.

UPDATE (4:14 P.M. ET): Martins and shz have released short statements announcing their departure from Luminosity
