Virtus.pro announced Wednesday it renewed the contracts of its Dota 2 roster through 2018.
The announcement reads that the contracts were set to expire at the end of this year, and that it is “downright unique” for a team in the region of the CIS to have a roster stay with one team for such a long time. In a video posted with the announcement, VP general manager Roman Kushnarev said the “financial terms and some additional provisions have been improved significantly” for the players.
“I’m very glad that we have signed these new contracts and will continue to represent Virtus.pro,” team captain Alexei “Solo” Berezin said in the release. “We feel very comfortable playing together, and the decision to extend was made by the whole team. It is our joint and informed choice. We are very aware of our present and future capabilities. The longer we play together, the better we’ll get.”
Apart from the extended contracts, Solo also said in the video that “there is another bit of news coming” when he was asked if he would be interested in staying with the team in a coaching capacity.
