Dealing with Fer on Mirage

Chiu on This
A short and regular opinion blast from Stephen Chiu

‘Chiu on This’ is a short and regular opinion blast

I’m doing a giant research project right now that probably won’t come to fruition until a year for now, but I thought this was interesting to note. In the match between SK and VP at ESL One Cologne, VP seemed to have setups specifically to deal with Fer. It didn’t work much at all against his CT-aggression. There is too much variance to what Fer does on that side of the map. When VP were on the CT-side, though, they didn’t shut him down, but they slowed him down. They mollied underpass when he usually goes from underpass to take connector. This slowed down his time to get there and gave Fer less time to setup that area where he usually gets a kill or breaks open the site. In addition to that, they started to stack two around the area to refrag fer. It didn’t last long. Not because SK figured it out, but because they were put on an eco where they forcebought and won the round. Just something curious to watch out for in┬áthe Major.
