Brand receives buffs to accompany his new skin in the League of Legends PBE

After a couple of days of experimental changes to Brand's W, the changes have been reverted in League of Legends' Public Beta Environment to be added on a later cycle.
After a couple of days of experimental changes to Brand's W, the changes have been reverted in League of Legends' Public Beta Environment to be added on a later cycle.

It’s kind of a joke for League of Legends fans to say that champions receive buffs when they also get new skins. In the case of Brand, though, it happens to be true.

An update to the League of Legends PBE on Tuesday includes a small number of balance changes and a new ping option in preparation for Patch 7.15, which went live Wednesday. Among the changes is a new Brand skin as part of the Battle Boss set, and he will also receive some buffs to go with it.

His E, Conflagration, has a lower mana cost at earlier levels, the AP ratio is increased from 35 to 40 percent, and he has a new effect that reduces the cool down by three seconds when cast on a minion or monster that hasn’t already been hit by his abilities.

A small nerf will lower Brand’s damage at earlier levels, but he also does more damage at later levels, keeping Brand as a strong late game champion.

Fiora buff

After some long-awaited nerfs to Fiora, she might receive a slight buff. Following a recent dev blog post by Andrei “Meddler” van Roon, the movement speed given by her passive is going to be increased, which also scales off of the rank for her ultimate.

Fiora won’t receive an increase in movement speed while around targets on which she used her ultimate, though, as the point of the previous nerf was to curb of crazy mobility by a little bit.

Maokai nerfs coming in

Maokai has been very popular in both the top lane and the jungle, with the new patch that made Bami’s Cinder — and thus the Cindehulk Enchantment — stronger for the jungle. That status may or may not change with the nerfs to his E, Sapling Toss. The little homing bombs now have scaling percent max health damage instead of a fixed value of 8 percent.
