Valve confirmed to HLTV on Wednesday that the next CS:GO Major will take place in late January or early February.
That means the PGL Krakow Major, which Gambit Gaming won Sunday, is the last Major of the year. After operating three Majors in previous years, Valve lowered the number to two starting last year. Last year’s were MLG Columbus in April and ESL One Cologne in July. The PGL Major took place after the ELEAGUE Major in January of this year.
The CS:GO Majors are the most important tournaments of the year, with a prize pool of $1 million and the prestige of all players. The most recent PGL Major was received with great success, as it broke records in terms of viewership from around the world, reaching over 1.8 million viewers, and the grand finals attracting almost 1 million.
Gambit, Immortals, Astralis, Virtus.Pro, Fnatic, SK Gaming, BIG and North all earned legend status for the next Major — whenever it may be.
