Penta player Miikka “suNny” Kemppi has been purchased and will join mousesports in the coming days, according to multiple sources. Mousesports is also finalizing a deal with OpTic Gaming‘s Oscar “mixwell” Cañellas. The duo would replace Christian “loWel” Antoran, who was released Wednesday, and Denis “denis” Howell.

Mixwell has has been one of the better players for OpTic during his tenure where he was AWPing for a majority of the time, even though he prefers not to do so. The team won ELEAGUE Season 2 and finished second at the ECS Season 2 Finals before losing Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz to Team Liquid. After stanislaw left, OpTic failed to come close to those impressive finishes and missed the PGL Major by losing to Renegades. OpTic’s fifth roster spot has been a revolving door of temporary players filled by James “hazed” Cobb, Jason “jasonR” Ruchelski and Spencer “Hiko” Martin.

SuNny joined Penta at the start of the year and had a tough time reaching large LAN events. The team failed to qualify for DreamHack Austin, ESL One Cologne, DreamHack Summer and missed ESL Pro League promotion by losing to BIG. Penta’s largest achievement with suNny was an impressive Major Qualifier run earned the team a berth in the PGL Krakow Major. It is unclear at this time who will replace suNny on the Penta roster.

Mousesports will continue its tenure as an international roster of stars led by Chris “chrisJ” de Jong. Newcomer Robin “ropz” Kool has proven he can be efficient on LAN while AWPer Tomáš “oskar” Šťastný is often the best player in the server at any given time. Oskar’s dominant presence helped Mouz qualify for the PGL Major, and the addition of mixwell and suNny should only help the team moving forward. This roster has enough firepower to compete with the best in the world, but it will need to be managed wisely.

OpTic Gaming declined comment. Mousesports did not respond to request for comment.
