Mousesports no longer plans to sign Oscar “mixwell” Cañellas and will instead opt to sign Martin “STYKO” Styk to replace Denis “Denis” Howell on the active roster, according to multiple sources close to the teams and players.

STYKO was asked to decide if he intended to join Mousesports by Monday, according to one source. It appears he has accepted and could transfer as early as this week. The change in plans was first reported by Flickshot.

It’s unclear what specifically broke down with mixwell, who was set to join Mouz with Miikka “suNny” Kemppi. One source indicated Mouz backed out of the buyout at the last second, while another indicated Mixwell simply changed his mind. This is the second time something like this has happened with mixwell, as he and Will “RUSH” Wierzba were close to joining Team Liquid in May before the deal broke down at the 11th hour.

Mixwell will remain on the OpTic Gaming roster for now, though there is no guarantee he remains there for the start of ESL Pro League Season 6, which begins Aug. 22nd. A roster move of some sort could still happen with OpTic in the near future.

With the addition of STYKO, the mousesports roster would be complete with suNny, Robin “ropz” Kool, Tomáš “oskar” Šťastný and Chris “ChrisJ” de Jong. Their first event with this new roster will be DreamHack Malmö at the end of the month.
