The post (which Cloud9 confirmed to Slingshot was authentic) reads that the six players chosen through this round of recruitment will be signed as the main Overwatch roster for Cloud9. The requirements for all applicants are having at least a 4,400 Skill Rating for Overwatch’s competitive Season 4 and 5, the ability relocate to the gaming house in Los Angeles, and being capable of competing in Overwatch League without any standing reasons for disqualification.
The announcement comes at a peculiar time, as Cloud9 acquired the Laser Kittenz roster Sunday and also has a North American roster listed on its website.
Cloud9 will be the London franchise in Blizzard’s upcoming Overwatch League. All players who compete in Overwatch League are guaranteed a yearly salary of at least $50,000, health benefits, and half of the prize money the team earns through the league. The signing window for teams competing in the first season of the Overwatch League opened on Aug. 1 and will continue until Oct. 30.
