LW Blue will forfeit all of its remaining games in Season 4 of OGN Overwatch APEX tournament in order to join the Overwatch League, according to a report from Fomos’ Kim “Kenzi” Yong-woo.

According to the report, LW Blue has already declared forfeit for its match against X6 Gaming on Wednesday. Its departure would leave Group D with X6, CONBOX, and Meta Bellum. LW Blue has reportedly told OGN APEX officials the team will drop out to join Overwatch League.

LW Blue has been one of the top Korean Overwatch teams since its inception. It took third place in Season 2 and lost in the quarterfinals of Season 3 to Lunatic-Hai, a team that will also play in the Overwatch League as the representatives of the Seoul franchise.

The team was also embroiled in controversy regarding the release of Jang “Luna” Gyeong-ho and Park “Who” Jae-hyeong. In a social media post, Luna explained that he was notified of his release the night before rosters for Season 4 were locked, and both he and Who would not be able to join another team in Korea because of the roster deadline.

Blizzard said the upcoming Overwatch League would not inhibit operations of OGN APEX, but with one of the higher profile teams reportedly leaving, its effects have been felt.
