Slingshot Readers,

We NEED your support. More specifically, the author of this article needs your support. If you've been enjoying our content, you know that a lot of work goes into our stories and although it may be a work of passion, writers gotta eat. If just half our readers gave 1 DOLLAR a month, one measly dollar, we could fund all the work from StuChiu, DeKay, Emily, Andrew (and even Vince). If you contribute 5 DOLLARS a month, we invite you to join our Discord and hang with the team. We wouldn't bother you like this if we didn't need your help and you can feel good knowing that 100% of your donation goes to the writers. We'd really appreciate your support. Riot Games announced Monday through its official website that players who had been acknowledged in the previous honor system will be rewarded with unique summoner icons by Sept. 30.

“Like we mentioned back around the Honor relaunch, Honor veterans who racked up votes and ribbons are due a reward for fighting the good fight,” wrote Riot’s Nathaniel “NaKyle” Wattenmaker. “We’re sending out five new (and exclusive) summoner icons to commemorate your old Honor accomplishments — check out the eligibility details below for more info. We’re starting delivery right now, and should be wrapped up by the end of September. We’ll update this post once they’re all out in the wild.”

There will be four icons that are dedicated to the previous categories in the honor system — Honorable Opponent, Great Leader, Great Teammate, and Great Mentor — and one icon as “a salute to a larger number of players who received votes in the old system.” The rewards are based on players’ standing in the previous honor system, and players must have played at least one match-made game within the last year to be eligible.

Those players who are eligible and received a crest — commonly referred to as a ribbon — or were within the top 10 percent in the region in terms of total number of honors in one of the categories will get the corresponding icon. Eligible players who have received at least 10 honors from the previous system will get the fifth icon.

The previous honor system allowed players to honor any of their teammates or opponents after a match in one of the four categories. The total number of honors that the player got was visible through their profiles, and when players got certain honors or combination of honors consistently, they were rewarded with a crest of the appropriate honor, displayed during champion select and on the champion border when loading into a game. The honor system was recently re-hauled with patch 7.13 on July 28 with its own set of rewards.
