The mother of MVP mid laner An “Ian” Jun-hyeong apparently handed out Starbucks gift cards to those who attended a fan meet Monday with the team.

According to a fan’s post on the Inven League of Legends forums, MVP head coach Kwon “Hell” Jae-hwan told fans to meet after MVP’s League Champions Korea regional gauntlet match Monday, and Ian’s mother bought 80 Starbucks gift cards for the fans in appreciation of their support. The minimum amount for a Starbucks gift card is 5,000 Won (about $4.50), which means she would have spent at least $360 to thank the fans.

MVP lost to the Afreeca Freecs 3-2 Monday in the first round of the LCK gauntlet, ending MVP’s season. But the fan meet went as planned, as they were able to greet the pro players and take home the gift cards.

MVP qualified for the LCK last summer through the promotional tournament. After the team placed just outside of the playoffs fin last year’s summer split, MVP finished in fourth place in the spring split and won a playoff match before missing the playoffs in the summer split. Pegged as a team made up of rather unimpressive individual players, MVP made a name for itself because of incredible teamwork and innovative drafting strategies, delivering unexpected defeats to major teams like KT Rolster and Samsung Galaxy.

The team’s season might have ended Monday, but at least the fans went home happy.
