Fear joined Evil Geniuses as the hard carry for its Dota 2 squad in 2011. He attended The International every year of his career except this year, and he reached his peak when Evil Geniuses claimed the championship for The International 5 in 2015.
Fear has stepped down from playing on two occasions, most recently last year, as he became the team’s coach after The International 6. Fear’s return to playing comes after a disappointing TI7 for Evil Geniuses, which finished in 9-12th place.
Evil Geniuses has already underwent some changes since TI7. Peter “ppd” Dager, the former CEO of Evil Geniuses, stepped down from his role earlier in the week. Ludwig “zai” Wåhlberg also parted ways with the team on the same day, after two stints with Evil Geniuses adding up to more two years.
With the return of Fear as a player and team leader, EG’s roster consists of Fear, Artour “Arteezy” Babaev, Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan, Saahil “UNiVeRsE” Arora, and Andreas “Cr1t-” Nielsen.
