Slingshot Readers,

We NEED your support. More specifically, the author of this article needs your support. If you've been enjoying our content, you know that a lot of work goes into our stories and although it may be a work of passion, writers gotta eat. If just half our readers gave 1 DOLLAR a month, one measly dollar, we could fund all the work from StuChiu, DeKay, Emily, Andrew (and even Vince). If you contribute 5 DOLLARS a month, we invite you to join our Discord and hang with the team. We wouldn't bother you like this if we didn't need your help and you can feel good knowing that 100% of your donation goes to the writers. We'd really appreciate your support. After all, you're what makes all this happen. Learn more

T-Mobile will sponsor the League of Legends World Championship, game developer Riot Games revealed Friday.

“As a part of the partnership, T-Mobile will be the presenting sponsor of a new segment during the worlds 2017 broadcast – titled ‘The Best of the Rift,'” the announcement reads. “Each week of worlds, the Best of the Rift segment will celebrate the most outstanding players during the tournament.”

Best of the Rift, presented by T-Mobile, will be broadcast at the end of each week at worlds, as it focuses on the most notable plays and players for that week.

This isn’t T-Mobile’s first venture into League of legends, as the wireless carrier recently sponsored North American esports organizations Team SoloMid and Cloud9. Before that, it partnered with Twitch in hosting events at the eSports Arena earlier this year during E3, which featured fighting games such as Street Fighter V, Injustice 2, and Tekken 7. T-Mobile also entered into Overwatch, as it was the sponsor for Team U.S.A. for Blizzard’s Overwatch World Cup.
