Seagull joins Team EnVyUs’ Overwatch League team

Seagull joined Team EnVyUs' Overwatch League team
Seagull became perhaps the highest profile Overwatch League signing over the weekend.

Team EnVyUs announced Saturday the signing of Brandon “Seagull” Larned to its Overwatch roster in anticipation of the inaugural season for the Overwatch League.

Seagull is perhaps the most well-known North American player. As a solid DPS player most well-known for his expertise as Genji, he was previously part of NRG Esports before walking away from his professional career in April to focus more on his streaming career. He teased potential involvement in Overwatch League two months ago, and fans’ hopes have come to fruition.

EnVyUs’ current roster — Timo “Taimou” Kettunen,  Jonathan “HarryHook” Tejedor Rua, Christian “cocco” Jonsson, Sebastian “chipshajen” Widlund, Pongphop “Mickie” Rattanasangchod and Kim “EFFECT” Hyeon — is in first place of Overwatch Contenders Season 1 in North America with a record of 7-0. Most of the roster has been intact since April 2016 when EnVyUs became one of the first organizations to field an Overwatch roster.

EnVyUs won the inaugural season of OGN APEX in South Korea and finished fourth in Season 3 before the tournament outlawed foreign teams beginning in Season 4. EnVyUs became one of the final three teams Wednesday to join Overwatch League Season 1, as it will operate as the Dallas franchise. The organization also announced last week it received an eight-figure investment from the Hersh Interactive Group.

The signing window for Overwatch League will continue through Oct. 31, and the season will begin Jan. 10.
