NRG Esports is finalizing a $15 million investment from celebrities including actress Jennifer Lopez, pro football player Marshawn Lynch and retired football player Michael Strahan, the team announced Thursday via ESPN.
Retired baseball Alex Rodriguez, who has previously invested in the organization, is also part of the latest funding round, as is baseball player Marlon Byrd. Other prominent names involved include Twitter chief operating officer Anthony Noto, Sacramento Kings minority owner Kevin Nagle, and Fortress Investment Group chairman Pete Briger.
The new investors were prominent in a video revealing NRG’s Overwatch League roster.

The latest round of investors join an already star-studded group. Basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal and retired baseball player Jimmy Rollins invested in early 2017.
NRG operates teams in Counter-Strike, For Honor, Hearthstone, Overwatch, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros, SMITE, Vainglory and World of Warcraft. It will be part of Overwatch League as the San Francisco franchise.
