The Korean Overwatch team CONBOX announced on Tuesday that it has released all of its players in mutual agreement with the players and the coaching staff.
“The players that were part of CONBOX for Season 4 of APEX will all be released from the team as free agents, and we deliver this message to the fans through an agreement by the coaching staff and players,” the announcement reads. “The team has decided to take some much needed time off after struggling in Season 4 through infrastructure that wasn’t the most comfortable, and to reflect the will of the players in a better environment and through better opportunities in Overwatch for the future.”
CONBOX has competed in every season of APEX as a member of the regular season without being relegated to the Challengers league. In the past two seasons CONBOX was able to make it to Round 2 of the group stage, but never made it to the playoffs.
The announcement from CONBOX is similar to the one made by another APEX participant the ROX Orcas, which disbanded on Sept. 18. Like ROX, CONBOX said that it will be making an announcement in the future regarding its Overwatch team, and thanked the players, coaches, and fans for their support over the past four seasons.
