WWE superstars AJ Styles, Charlotte Flair, and Xavier Woods were part of a short video showing their support to the Chinese representatives at this year’s League of Legends World Championship.
The video was posted on the official Weibo account for League of Legends on Wednesday and featured the three wrestlers wearing the team jerseys for EDward Gaming, Team WE, and Royal Never Give Up. Although not much of the video talks about why or how those three particular stars were chosen, but it is quite the spectacle to behold.
The WWE seems to be jumping into esports as of late, as it was announced on Tuesday that the WWE will be collaborating with gaming website IGN to host a competition between wrestlers on the recently released fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. Xavier Woods and AJ Styles are well-known fans of video games, and Woods hosts his own gaming YouTube Channel Up Up Down Down, which showcases him and a large list of other wrestlers playing games of all sorts behind the scenes.
The group stage for worlds begins on Oct. 5, with a match between RNG and 1907 1907 Fenerbahçe kicking off the tournament after the opening ceremony. The competing 16 teams will play in a double round robin until Oct. 15, and the two top teams of each group will proceed to the quarter finals beginning which will take place from Oct. 19-22.
