As the next Counter-Strike Americas Minor approaches, four teams have been invited to a closed qualifier that will take place Nov. 8-9, according to multiple sources involved with the tournament.
Cloud9, Immortals, Team SoloMid and Echo Fox have been invited to the closed qualifier, according to sources. They will be joined by four teams from two online open qualifiers that will take place Nov. 2-3 and Nov. 6-7. ELEAGUE and FaceIt are operating the events.
NRG, another notable North American organization, will be among the teams having to enter via the open qualifiers. NRG will have to do so while using a stand-in for the team’s in-game-leader, Fatih “gob b” Dayik, to meet Valve’s “3 out of 5” player nationality rule, according to a source close to the team. Gob b will act as the team’s coach during this minor/major qualification process. It is not yet known which North American player will replace gob b in the lineup.
What’s different about this qualification process is that the Minor itself will include four teams from the closed qualifier, according to sources. This is a drastic change from every other CS:GO Minor in history, as they have always contained eight teams competing for two Major qualifier spots.
