Doublelift taking hiatus from professional League of Legends

One of the most famous North American League of Legends players is taking a hiatus from professional play.

Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng will sit out with spring 2017 split with intentions of fighting for a spot in the summer split, Team SoloMid announced Tuesday.

“When I do something, I put my heart and soul into it, striving to achieve greatness,” Doublelift said in the announcement. “That’s why it’s time for a small break. After our convincing performance in Summer, NALCS Spring is considerably less appetizing.”

Doublelift said he will focus on streaming and content creation in the interim and will return “if the team needs me,” for the summer split. After playing the majority of his career with Counter Logic Gaming, Doublelift spurned CLG to join rival TSM this season. TSM won the North American League Championship Series in the summer split and earned a berth to the League of Legends World Championship but failed to make it out of Group D, which featured Royal Never Give Up and Samsung Galaxy, which was runner-up to SK Telecom T1.
