Smeb: “KT being a large corporation certainly played a part (in my move).”

With the League of Legends Allstars tournament this week, the representatives of League Champions Korea have left for the site of the tournament, Barcelona, on Monday. Before boarded the plane, new KT Rolster top laner Song “Smeb” Kyung-ho said that he felt more secure working for his new sponsors in a video interview with Fomos.

“I have gone day to day with some nervousness up until now,” he said. “So KT being a large corporation certainly played a part (in my move). There are also powerful teammates coming from China, so it all came together to make my decision.”

Like many of his other teammates on the ROX Tigers, Smeb also seemed to be rather heartbroken that his original team disbanded.

“I was definitely very sad,” he said. “We were a team that got together as a whole, so I came to like them a lot, so I think it was a very hard thing to go through.”

Smeb will be playing with returning top tier Korean talent such as the likes of Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu and Heo “Pawn” Won-seok, and he confirmed the will of those players returning to have victory in their eyes.

“The whole teams seems to have a very strong will to win a tournament,” he said. “So in that way I think it’ll be very good for us. They’re also very kind and hardworking teammates as well.”

This Allstars event is also Smeb’s first, and he said that being chosen by the fans to compete in it has given him a sense of validation.
