SK Telecom T1 apparently had a purse on the line leading up to their match against rival KT Rolster.
The head coach of SKT Choi “cCarter” Byung-hoon said that their sponsor company put a monetary reward to sweeten the pot in an interview with OSEN’s Ko Yong-jun.
“As we were preparing for the KT match, the company put a money reward on the line, which I think gave the players motivation,” he said. “I want to thank the players and the coaches for their hard work.”
As is typical for a member of SKT’s coaching staff, Choi remains critical of his team, saying that “there were many mistakes” that the players worked around to pull out the win, and shared his ambitions to “making it to the finals” with continued wins.
Choi also shared some of the things that the team worked on after their first clash with KT, and how the team prepared to deal with potential x-factors.
“We focused on the early game vision and movement, which is why we had a tough time against KT (last time),” he said. “So we prepped Kim “Profit” Jun-hyung and Kang “Blank” Sun-gu. Both players were maintaining good form. We picked Zilean in Game 3 because he still lanes well against a poking composition.”
