The summer split of the North American League of Legends Championship Series (NA LCS) will start June 2 with an opening match between Cloud9 and Counter Logic Gaming.
The summer split will run nine weeks with 10 games every week. The LCS will take a one week break July 7 because that’s when Riot Games’ new Rift Rivals event will take place. Matches of note include Team SoloMid playing Cloud9 on June 3 and 30. Cloud9 was one of three teams that managed to take a match off of TSM during the spring split and also fell to TSM in the spring final. As TSM had to take some time to travel and compete in Brazil for the Mid Season Invitational, the first match between the top two teams of NA will be a brief look into what C9 prepared for the new split and patch.
Immortals’ first matchup with CLG on June 23 will be interesting because the two teams traded junglers. Jake “Xmithie” Puchero, a member of CLG since 2014 moved to the Immortals, while Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett moved to CLG. For fans of traditional rivalries, CLG and TSM meet for the first time June 11 and will close out the regular season on Aug. 6.
