North American Counter-Strike team OpTic Gaming has signed Chet “ImAPet” Singh as head coach, according to multiple sources. It is likely that this move is related to his recent departure from Counter Logic Gaming.
ImAPet joined CLG as an analyst in August 2016 before moving to head coach in early December. He has been credited with helping CLG improve significantly after the addition of both Pujan “FNS” Mehta and Ricky “Rickeh” Mulholland. On Wednesday, CLG announced it would part ways with ImAPet after he decided to move on and pursue new opportunities. The team most recently reached the semifinals of DreamHack Summer.
OpTic is currently competing at the PGL Major Qualifier in Bucharest and hope to finish in the top 8 so it will qualify for the PGL Major. OpTic’s stand-in in-game leader Jason “jasonR” Ruchelski stepped down following the Season 5 ESL Pro League Finals in Dallas and James “hazed” Cobb has taken over. While acting as a coach during that time, he has had less than a month to prepare the team for this event. It should be expected that ImAPet will join the team following their performance this weekend.
OpTic Gaming could not initially be reached for comment.
