Korean Overwatch commentator Go “NamedHwi” Se-hwi announced Thursday through Facebook and Twitter that he will join FaZe Clan as an analyst.
“Now I’m one of FaZe Clan members,” he wrote on Facebook. “I signed with FaZe as analyst of OW team. Happy and appreciate that. I’ll try my best.”
Previously a commentator for OGN’s Overwatch tournaments on Twitch, NamedHwi also has experience as a coach. He was previously part of the Korean Overwatch team BK Stars until it disbanded. Then he moved to the European team Laser Kittenz as an assistant coach. He left July 25 and returned to Korea for the time being.
FaZe Clan has recently picked up Korean DPS player Lee “Carpe” Jae-hyuk — previously of the BK Stars and Selfless Gaming — and former Cyclowns coach Luke “iuKeEe” Daintonon as a coach, according to the team list on the Overwatch Contenders website. Carpe will replace Lui “Lui” Olivares.
FaZe competed in Overwatch Contenders Season Zero and qualified for Season 1 after placing fifth in the European tournament. FaZe Clan will play FNRGFE for its first match of Contenders Season 1, the third place team in Season 0, in Sunday’s season opener. The team has reportedly entered into a boot camp a few short days before their first match.
