“I am happy to share that I have re-signed with Schalke for the upcoming two years,” Upset said in a statement. “I have been very happy with the club and hope to continue working with them in a similar fashion. Furthermore, I am very excited for the upcoming splits as I have full trust that Schalke 04 will have a strong roster for 2018/2019 and great staff to support the other players and myself.”
Schalke will let the contracts of the other four players run out, the team said in the same announcement. According to Riot Games’ global contract database, the contracts for the other four members of Schalke’s active roster — Marc “Caedrel” Robert Lamont, Jonas “Memento” Elmarghichi, Lennart “Smittyj” Warkus, and Tore “Norskeren” Hoel Eilertsen — were set to expire on Saturday, which makes the four players free agents.
Upset was a part of Schalke 04 since January, after the team was relegated to the European Challenger League in the previous summer split and helped the team reach the European League of Legends Championship Series after the Schalke was relegated last summer.
