Spirit Academy appeals to CEVO after losing in the CIS Minor qualifier to a team with alleged banned cheaters

Spirit Academy filed an appeal with CEVO after losing in the CIS Minor qualifier

Spirit Academy appealed to CEVO on Sunday after losing a match in the CIS Minor qualifier to FONTAN, a team with two players allegedly banned in FaceIt for cheating.

The alleged banned players are Egor “darkinho” Lobanov and Sergey “SER1Y” Oleynikov, the possible FaceIt accounts of whom were posted by Spirit Academy’s Aleksey “1uke” Zimin to Russian social media platform VK.com.

“We hope that CEVO management will review our statement in the near future and make a fair decision on this issue,” Team Spirit wrote in a tweet.

Even if CEVO, which is running the online qualifiers for the upcoming ELEAGUE Major in January, decided to disqualify FONTAN, Spirit Academy would not be able to get back into the tournament as it’s already progressed to the round of 16. Spirit Academy lost in the round of 128.

FONTAN is scheduled to play mimimishki on Tuesday in the round of 16. The top six teams will join Team Spirit (which owns Spirit Academy) and Tengri in the CIS Minor, which takes place Oct. 26-29.
