Fnatic will replace HappyFeet at the ESL One Hamburg Dota 2 Major because HappyFeet failed to secure visas in time, ESL announced Thursday.
“We would like to thank everyone who helped and supported us while we were trying to process our visas,” HappyFeet said in a statement to ESL. “Sadly, our visas won’t make it in time thus we won’t be able to attend the event.”
HappyFeet initially clinched a spot in the tournament through the Southeast Asian qualifier and went on to defeat WarriorsGaming.Unity, Fire Dragoon E-sports, and Clutch Gamers to secure first place. As the tournament is set to begin next week, Fnatic, the third place team from the SEA qualifier, will fill the empty spot.
ESL One Hamburg will be the first Major of the reworked Dota 2 season, as teams can earn points that go toward securing invitations to The International. There will be 11 Majors and 11 Minors in the season. ESL One Hamburg will take place from Oct. 26-29 and feature eight teams competing for their share of the $1 million prize pool.
