The player who is voted MVP of the ESL One Hamburg Dota 2 Major next week will win a Mercedes-Benz car worth about $60,000, the ESL announced Friday.
The MVP will be determined by voting from fans and talent at ESL One Hamburg. The fan vote opens Oct. 26 and will continue until the final game of the grand final. The weight of the votes will be 60/40, with the talent having the higher portion.
ESL One Hamburg is the first Dota 2 Major of the new season and has a $1 million prize pool. It is also part of the new Qualification Points system this season that will be used to determine the teams that qualify for The International 8. The points are distributed to the best performing teams in Dota 2 Majors and Minors throughout the year based on the prize pool. The three players on each team with the most amount of accumulated points will make up their team’s total.
Eight teams will compete at the Major in Hamburg. Team Liquid and Newbee received direct invitations, while the rest of the field consists of Team Secret, Virtus.pro, Keen Gaming, Fnatic (which replaced HappyFeet), Evil Geniuses, and SG e-sports.
