The ECS Season 4 finals will take place Dec. 15-17 in Cancun, Mexico, FaceIt announced Thursday.
“ECS was founded with the goal of creating a player-friendly environment,” said Michele Attisani, chief business officer and co-founder of FACEIT. “This season, we wanted to host the ECS finals in a location that gives teams an opportunity to compete in the most competitively balanced environment we can achieve. These teams work hard all year long with matches, practices and training, and by bringing them to Cancun, we hope that ECS will help fire up their competitive spirits.”
The top four teams from the North American and European regions will reach the finals, which will likely be the last large LAN of the year. ECS returns to North America after hosting the finals for Seasons 1 and 3 in London. The Season 2 finals were held in Anaheim, Calif. last December.
The ECS finals will be made up of eight participating teams, with four teams each from North America and Europe. The finalists will be determined by each region’s league made up of 10 participating teams. The top four teams of the league will qualify for the ECS Season 4 finals, with the teams from first to eighth place automatically qualifying to Season 5. The bottom two teams will defend their spots in the Season 5 Promotional tournament.
The event will take place at the Hard Rock Hotel Cancun and be live streamed on YouTube Gaming.
